Great Travel Moment While wandering through a small village in China called Da Tou, literally translated to mean, "big head," I came across this woman chopping slices of meat outside her house. She had one of the most gregarious personalities that I had encountered during that trip; most of the villagers had been more inquisitive than friendly to my wandering eyes and feet. What shocked me about her was that even while she looked up, interacted with my friends and I in short Chinese sentences, and laughed with her head back, she never stopped chopping or put down her knife. I grabbed my camera from my bag and shot from the hip, hoping to not make her feel uncomfortable and cut our cheery exchange short. I was so happy that I did, so that I have this photo to remember her face by. One thing's for sure, if I ever am wandering through Da Tou again and in need of some raw meat, I know who to go to for a slice of meat and a smile. |
