Dream Trip 2009Neuschwanstein Castle, royal palace in the Bavarian Alps of Germany
Submitted: Jul 18, '09
Great Travel Moment Having just served an active duty tour at the American military hospital in Germany, I kept very busy with caring for our nation's wounded soldiers. However, sometimes I was given time off to explore the wonderful German countryside. My favorite trip was driving through Bavaria during Oktoberfest. On the drive down to Munich, a group of soldiers and I stopped at the Neuschwanstein castle. We climbed up some cliffs and were hundreds of feet up to snap this picture. You all might recognize this castle because it was the one that Walt Disney used to model his castle after. |

I loved visiting this castle. I had just read Tristan & Isolde and was thrilled to see a painting of them displayed on the ceiling in one of the bedrooms.
