Great Travel Moment My husband and I didn't have to travel to England to see this magnificent site---Stonehenge! Actually, it is a replica of the authentic Stonehenge, and it is awesome. In my research for our upcoming trip, I found this replica and convinced him it would be a very worthwhile experience to see it. It is in the town of Maryhill, Washington. We also learned a little bit of Americana by visiting this spot. Have you ever heard the expression, "where in the Sam Hill are you?" Aha, we found out!! A Mr. Sam Hill owned all the land around the Stonehenge area and named it in honor of his wife--Mary Hill. It does take a while to finally get there and you wonder, "where in the Sam Hill are we?" The Stonehenge Monument is built to look like the original Stonehenge, before time and erosion took their toll. |
