Great Travel Moment This moth represents just one small piece of the diversity in color and form of the insect world that I uncovered in the rainforests of Kenya. Each day that I ventured into the jungle I discovered a new animal. The spiders, beetles, moths, butterflies, and caterpillars are wildly colorful, perhaps in warning but I could not resist observing them as closely as possible. Each moment of discovery felt completely new and I often wondered if these species had even been named. To find these treasures I shifted my perspective to the smaller beauties of the forest. I spent much time in the same place, allowing my eyes to open to the previously unseen. This photograph makes me feel like a child again, experiencing the world for the first time. |
