Dream Trip 2009

Great Travel Moment

This moment was one of pure bliss at my being in this world. I was atop Haleakala crater on the island of Maui. The altitude, lunar landscape, and energy of this place strike me as sacred. Mountains vary from a deep red ash to a deep grey and in the early morning light, gold moves through the crater. I was atop the cloud layer when the sun rose above, turning the clouds silver, and creating what one might imagine a heaven to be. The sun is shining in the shape of a star and the clouds are lined with illumination. This moment was profoundly special. I felt the dawn of a new day in infinite possibility, while understanding that this feeling is within us at all times, whether atop the clouds or beneath them.
