Great Travel Moment Lovely place. My cousin, and architect, participated in building two cafes in there. Jardin des Tuileries is one of those parks where you can grab a chair for free and sit wherever you like. I love to sit at the end close to the Place de la Concorde. Once on the extreme western edge of the city, the Tuileries Gardens are now very much at its center. In the early 16th century the area was a clay quarry for tiles (tuilerie in French, hence the name). It is surrounded by the Louvre (to the east), the Seine (to the south), the Place de la Concorde (to the west) and the Rue de Rivoli (to the north). All kinds of people come there to rest or to meet. Artists, housewives, students, tourists. |
