Great Travel Moment This shot illustrates the power of gravity and the ability of water to prevent certain death. The falls at Montezuma, Costa Rica, make for an exhilarating and challenging day trip. The crescendo of a challenging hike that includes traversing algae-laden boulders, and a steep and slippery climb to the trailhead towards the third and largest of the waterfalls. During our hike, locals repeatedly warned us that 2 weeks before, a tourist had misjudged the jump due to murky waters, and had been killed. Since it had rained profusely the night before, leaving the waters turbid, we decided not to make the leap. However, after viewing the falls and soaking in the refreshing pools, some local adrenaline junkies came along and decided to take the plunge. This shot captures one jumper?s lesson in gravity, as he falls towards the murky waters 50 feet below. |
