Great Travel Moment This picture is from the first day that my family and I arrived in Rome, Italy. I still remember the drive into the city and admiring all of the buildings made of stucco and the beautiful green hills. It was so special to me since it was the first time that I had traveled to a non-English speaking country. I had been studying the early Romans in school in my Latin class, and was able to recognize many of the landmarks that we came across. This picture is of Pope John Paul II during the canonization ceremony of four different Saints at the Vatican. Raised a Roman Catholic, it was incredible to be in the presence of the Pope, especially when we were not aware that the ceremony was taking place and just happened to stumble upon it. |
