Mykonos Windmills and Blue Shutters
Submitted: Jul 21, '09
Great Travel Moment
From as early as the 16th Century, windmills have been the recognized symbols of Mykonos, an idyllic Greek island in the Cyclades. Today, only a fraction of these wonderful icons remain of what was once an active part of the history of Mykonos. These whitewashed structures against the striking blue sky provided a perfect photo opportunity. I was especially drawn to the contrast of the blue shutters.
