Great Travel Moment

The ancient civilization has influenced our own and are visible in this photograph. - The Roman Forum / Senate signifies politics and many modern governments are based on their ancient foundations. - The Flavian Amphitheater / Colosseum was important for sporting events and is the template for modern sports arenas. - The arch, as seen in several structures in the picture, was a critical component in architecture that allowed new types of reinforcement and new heights in builds to be achieved. - The temples and churches visible in this photo were important to the culture then, and continue to be part of most modern cultures. Overall, looking over this landscape is humbling and reminds a person of how much we have borrowed from the ancient Romans. Without this piece of history, our lives, governments, and world would be totally different.
