Great Travel Moment This is a photograph of native dancers in the Philippines that I took in the Spring of 2008 at the Caylabne Bay Beach Resort in Cavite. The dance started with virgins dancing side-by-side with pots on their heads that they balance gracefully as they danced. In this scene, one of the virgins captures the attention of a man who then dances with her in a courtship dance. The virgin lets the man chase her until she gets wrapped by the woven cloth he is holding, which symbolizes his success in capturing this virgin to be his mate. The costumes captivated me with its colors and the indigenous materials such as feathers, beads, pots, and the woven garments. |
