Great Travel Moment I had long dreamed of visiting Tibet, ever since I was a child. Then in 2003 I found myself working for WHO in China. So in 2005 there I was, in Lhasa at long last, with my mother and close friends. It was a perfect summer day, the sun beating down strongly through the thin air of the Tibetan plateau. We were at the Jokhang Temple, fabled for its role in Tibetan Buddhism and politics. The crowd of tourists suddenly vanished, and I took picture after picture amid the silence, savouring the beauty of the art and architecture. This is one of those pictures that brings back strong memories of a very special time in a very special place. |
