Great Travel Moment My fiancee and I were hoping to encounter less-frequented parts of Tibet so we arranged for our driver--who was very reluctant due to the bad roads--to take a bakc road from Shigatse to Lhasa. We encountered the kids in the uniforms on a rickety wooden bridge, waiting for their "school bus." It was a tractor-style vehicle with a flatbed in the back with this interesting group of folks going to work and school. Every time I look at the picture I see something else happening: there is a Muslim Hui woman, Tibetans wearing the ubiquitous half-masks, school kids, stories within a story. |
