Great Travel Moment

This trip to Venice was a spur of the moment trip hopping on a train late at night in Rome and arrivings at 6am. This photograph was taken a few minutes after we found our luggage and were making our way down the cobblestone walkways. We were tired and disoriented but I think this photograph is by far the best image I have taken in all my years of traveling because of the color and the movement it shows with the gondola peaking out heading for the bridge. It was amazing to me to find people in this scene as that most of the streets were empty and quiet. One more thing I like about this is the sliver of sky that shows in the water which of course gives the photograph a surreal feel with all the reflections in early morning light. I could see this picture on the cover of Conde Nast Traveler.
