Great Travel Moment On the long list of "things-to-see" in Istanbul are the Whirling Dervishes. This eight hundred year old spinning tradition is a sight to see, for sure. We had purchased our tickets for their performance on the last night we were in the city. We had our day planned out perfectly with a cruise on the Bosphorus, then directly on to the show. At the port, we hopped into a cab armed with our brochure and map. The problem was, the taxi driver didn't know the way, nor did the second taxi cab driver we flagged down, nor the eight pedestrians we asked along the way. Despite our protests, one taxi driver insisted he take us to another dinner show he swore we would enjoy better! Somehow, we eventually made it to our destination and the soothing tones of the Sufi musicians calmed our tattered nerves. |
