Great Travel Moment I took this photo in Teotitlan del Valle, a small town known for colorful rugs made by Zapotec weavers. My husband and I drove there from Oaxaca to look around and buy a souvenir. After walking past the countless market stalls piled high with rugs, we stumbled on this church just off the center plaza. It was a weekday so we had the church to ourselves. There had been a festival the day before and the church was still decorated with prayer flags strung from the ceiling. I remember it was hot and the cool dark church was a welcome relief from the mid-day heat. I sat in one of the pews and took this photo of the sun streaming in from the window causing some of the prayer flags to appear almost transparent. |
