Great Travel Moment For a few months I lived in a small town named Rajgarh which is in the Himalayan Foothills. The program I went with had assigned us all tasks based on our education. Since I am in the medical profession, it was our job to do brief medical checkups on these children. I remember we drove 2 hours to this tiny village which was even more remote than where I was living. We did our checkups without any supplies on hand. I found it sad that money is so scarce that these children rely on foreign volunteers with no supplies and minimal skill to monitor their health. I ended up donating a simple box of latex gloves which the teacher said she would save for emergencies. The kids loved it but always had serious looks when photos were taken. |
