Great Travel Moment Nothing feels quite like a giraffe's tongue -- for a start it's way bigger than you'd imagine, at least as thick as my wrist. It's both slimey and like sand-paper, and very powerful. This was taken on the outskirts of Nairobi at a giraffe sanctuary where visitors can feed the animals. I was visiting with one of my oldest friends who was working in Kenya. He drove us around in his battered landrover and we spent a memorable day hiking in the Rift Valley, miles from anywhere. The animals, from giraffes to herds of elephants, were the highlight of the trip. |
