Great Travel Moment

This is one of the most memorable images that I collected through my travels around the world. Taken more that 18 years ago, the moment that I made it is still vivid in my memory. I was traveling in southern China, near Guilin, when I spotted this man along the road from the window of my bus. I jumped from my seat and asked the driver to stop. As I approached cautiously, not to startle him, I pointed to my camera, joined my hands, as the Chinese do, and bowed respectfully. He smiled and raised his hand signaling for me to wait and proceeded to unhurriedly button his shirt, put on his hat, and then posed for me. I was captivated by his expression of kindness and his rugged facial features.
