Great Travel Moment The awesome beauty and simplicity and quiet beauty of Japan's temples. Refuge amid the chaos of the busy streets and bustling towns. My wife and I had taken a bus from Kanagawa prefecture to Nara an ancient city in Japan. The streets were crowded with tourists, the roads clogged with traffic. As we navigated the streets avoiding people, bicycles and other obstacles, we entered this beautiful temple and immediately felt the World melt away. As we traveled through the temple grounds filled with Sakura or cherry blossoms, the scene became even more beautiful. Being told of the Samarai that used to live and train here, it brought us back to an era without cars, of honor and committment. You could smell the history and envision a time gone by. |
