Great Travel Moment With a group of adult Girl Scout friends, my daughter and I spent three weeks visiting India. During our bus ride between Agra and Delhi we traveled through this small village. This scene struck me as very poignant. Even though crumbling buildings and vehicles in the background illustrate the desperate poverty of this country, over and over again we saw Indian locals going about their daily routines, seemingly unaware of another way of life. The women always looked beautiful, colorful and spotless in their saris, despite the lack of money available for new clothes and the dusty conditions caused by the filth of the streets and the dryness of the season. Scenes like this caused our group of American women rethink the necessities of our own lives. |
