Great Travel Moment "Yes," sighed the little reptile. "Many tourists tell me I resemble the Geico gekko, and I suppose I should be grateful. The more attention I get, the more opportunities I have to educate visitors to my islands, the Galapagos, on why their preservation is so important." He seemed to lean into the rock, balanced by his hand which looked remarkably...human. The Galapagos Islands are the one place I've been where wildlife outnumbered humans, and it was wonderful. The personalities of these creature shone through, and I realized how responsible we are for their protection, because they protect our connection to the natural world. I loved being among them, silently watching them. |
