Great Travel Moment Each Sunday afternoon on Venice Beach in Los Angeles, a drum circle forms. About fifty people came out on this day, dragging with them drums of all shapes and sizes, from the small kit in the front left to the kettle drum near the sun itself. Some people just keep time with their hands. I had left Los Angeles to see the world and was visiting home for the first time in a long time. On this day, I went back to my old neighborhood to the drum circle and snapped this shot. I can hear the rhythmic music in my ears and feet and feel the cool Spring air. The light was perfect for this silhouette shot -- there are no individuals in the drum circle, it's just a collective of sound synchronized to the same beat |
