Great Travel Moment Spain?s wine region, La Rioja, is magnificent. Beautiful vineyards line the roadways, snow-capped mountains can be seen in the distance, and picturesque villages with cathedrals and ancient stone buildings can be seen for miles. Each town in La Rioja was beautiful. But while driving through the region one sunny afternoon, I felt compelled to leave the road and drive to this little spot in Najera. There wasn?t a person to be seen for miles; the only buildings within my sight were small tool sheds used to store grape picking utensils; and the only sound to be heard was running water from a tiny stream running along side of a dirt path. I was overcome with a sense of calm and beauty when I looked out on this scenery. I even had tears in my eyes as I remembered that my time in this spot would be short-lived. |
