Great Travel Moment I have made it a habit to travel with a compact watercolor set... there is only so much raw emotion you can tap into in journal entries and photographs. I usually pick a discreet spot to paint, to avoid the inevitable crowd of people that gather to watch over my shoulder, who tend to disrupt my zen-like state. On this particular day, I chose the edge of a dock that extended into the Thu Bon River. One of the few spectators that were curious enough to walk onto the dock was an elderly Vietnamese man, who asked why I chose this particular subject in near perfect English."Because he seems so peaceful out there... and he's not moving," I answered."He..." he chuckled,"...is a she. Only woman wear those hats." When I zoomed in on my photo, I realized that he was, indeed, a she. |
