Great Travel Moment The best nights one experiences on holiday, as well as those special nights at home, involve excitement in the buildup. First come the inspiration and the invitation. Then markets are harvested for their best ingredients, flowers, special flourishes. A table is lovingly set. Wine breathes. Cloth napkins are crisply folded. A number of courses are prepared. All freshen up from their busy day in exotic locales. And we begin to arrive.Always beyond the meal itself… is the company. Stories, dreams, are shared. Glasses are raised to toast the realization that we are not so different. New memories are forged. We are travelers. In opening to new experience… and other ways of being… we truly are ambassadors“keeping the lines of communication open”. And with passports in hand, we shall accept tomorrow's assignment—yet another lovely experience. |

This is an interesting artsy type picture. Your essay is wonderful.Where were you when you took this pic, after all this is a travel photo contest. I like some of the others can't believe this picture deserves this many votes. How are you doing this? You must know a lot of people.

first of all - I am female; and second, I don't think I am willing to open a discussion with somebody who didn't even submit one single picture to this contest.

if I understand you right, then "criticism" is unfair? I don't think it is unfair.
If somebody submits a picture to an online photo contest, then that person should be ready for opinions, even if some are not pretty.
It is always a matter of opinion, but one can not only expect praise.
I personally still don't see it about the picture.
I know a good picture when I see one and this one is average at best. Nothing special and certainly not photo contest material.
And by the way mr. or mrs. travelgoddess... I for example don't have a problem giving my honest opinion with my real screen name. Why should I?
I have my own pictures to be proud of and I know one or two things about photography.

I still don't get all the praises about the picture.
I am not saying, it's a bad picture, it is indeed a good picture but not an outstanding one, but I am just surprised at how many people supposely voted for it. Seems a bit odd to me. There are other pictures here in the contest, which are just breathtaking and they have just a few votes and hardly any comments.

I personally like the essay better than the picture. I don't think the depth of field is very good in it, you could have done it better, for more impact. But the essay is written very well.
