Great Travel Moment This was my third tour in Korea as a soldier; most other females around were much younger then I. I didn't quite fit in anywhere, when one day I was asked by another soldier if I wanted to participate in rappelling off Mt. Soyosan; which was only a few minutes from the town of Dongducheon where our base was. Never having done this before I was assured that I would be thought everything I needed to know. I was so terrified of heights, but I am so glad I gave it a try anyway! As scary as it was; it was just as exciting and I've loved it ever since. The view from the top of the mountain down unto the little village is so breathtaking as well. It thought me to never be afraid to try something new. When you get back down, there's plenty of authentic Korean cuisine waiting for you and vendor's with lot's of cheap souvenir's. South Korea is a shopping Mecca; you wish you'd never have to leave. The people are very hospitable. Once you've been there; you'll return again! |
