Great Travel Moment The road from Ouarzazate to Marrakech was long and winding, but well paved and safe. From the window I gazed out upon verdant green valleys and ancient Casbahs. As we crested the Atlas mountains, and before we began our long descent to Marrakech, we pulled over to take a picture. As I got out of the car I heard a sound that had become so familiar on this trip, the Muslim call to prayer. The melodic voice of the Muezzin floated across the road and down into the valleys. It was at this point that I noticed a man in a traditional Moroccan loose-fitting robe, a Djellaba, begin to kneel down in prayer. I paused for a moment to take in the serene scene before me, and then took the picture. |
