Great Travel Moment Two years ago, I went to Maui with my niece and my mother. We stayed in West Maui in a little town called Lahaina. This shot was taken on Kaanapali Beach in Maui, while waiting for the Sunset Torch Ceremony. The ceremony involves a lone person lighting a series of torches, ending on a small cliff called"Black Rock" and then diving into the water. The ceremony was unforgettable and well worth waiting for. We even heard one little boy exclaimWow do it again! I took this photo of my niece at the water's edge. The image of the smallness of a lone person against the magnitude of nature was overwhelming. I'm glad I was able to capture this moment. Every time I look at this photo, it relaxes me, and reminds me of the calmness of my surroundings at that time and beauty of this wonderful place. |
