This picture was taken from our hotel balcony in Imerovigli, Santorini, the morning after my now-husband, Stewart, proposed to me, in true Grecian style. Following our dinner at Koukoumavlos, Stewart insisted that we stop at a small store to pick up an apple. I was utterly perplexed, but we made our stop. Upon arriving in our hotel room, Stewart informed me that if I caught the apple, I would receive one card, and if I dropped it, there was another card. I caught the apple and received a piece of papyrus paper indicating that in Greece, when a woman catches an apple tossed by a man, she has accepted his proposal of marriage.Upon waking the next morning, we had this amazing view from our balcony. It is not an image that many people encounter every day, but it is also not every day that one becomes engaged. We celebrated our one year anniversary this past June.
