Great Travel Moment We were spending the week in Pucon and it had been unseasonably cold and rainy. We spent much of the day wet and running from store to store searching rain coats so we could keep playing. It was too cold to go rafting, and too rainy to go hiking, so we took a suggestion from a local friend and drove an hour south to the Termas Geometricas. A tiny hand painted sign pointed the way up the mountain and my dad drove the rocky road at top speed to beat the sunset. We got out and saw the most amazing thermal baths I never knew existed. An angular pathway snaked up the mountain crevice with slate pools built along the way to isolate the hot and cold water leading back to a roaring waterfall icy fresh with melted snow. Besides it being beautiful, it was also so simple. We put on our swimsuits in the grass covered huts and hopped in. No souvenir shops, no waivers to sign. Just all this beautiful warmth on a cold, rainy day, followed by hot cocoa by the fire pit in the main hut. Perfect. |
