Great Travel Moment 1999 We were in My Tho, in the Mekong Delta. We had hired a boat to take around the canals and to nearby towns. We arrived at a small river town; we docked our boat by a school. School must've just finished for the day. There were a large number of kids, in school uniforms, walking across a bridge which was above the dock where we had tied up. As I stepped onto the rickety, dilapidated dock, I broke through the planks and plunged through the dock and halfway into the river. Of course, the first reaction, with out any fore thought I hasten to add, was tosave the camera. I kept the camera dry and above my head; however, I got a nasty split lip which bled profusely I still have the scar today. I took these photos just after having scrambled onto the relative safety of muddy river bank. I am sure I was still bleeding. The look on these kid's faces tells all |
