Great Travel Moment Just a few uphill steps from the chaos of the merchants and restaurateurs vying for business in the narrow streets of Fira, on Santorini, provided a late afternoon view of the pastel buildings perched on the cliff overlooking the Caldera. The evening low cloud was a warning that our drive back to Oia would be an adventure in the fog, but, for the moment, it was as if we had found Brigadoon on a greek Island, and it was about to disappear. We knew that we had to explore its mysteries immediately or it would be 100 years, if ever, before the magical city would reappear. |
