Great Travel Moment This photo is special because it was my first climb up a"14er" in Colorado which has 54 of these mountains over 14,000 feet. That's Mt Antero in the background looking SSW. We camped out at a friends cabin near Bailey, CO. In the morning we left bright and early and made it to the summit @ 14,197 ft in 3 hours. You could see for over 300 miles in every direction. We ate lunch then signed the sheet which was inside of a pcv pipe attached to the bench mark at the summit. On the way back, we ran into an elderly couple with two small dogs. Each dog was on it's 34th and 36th ascent of a 14'er, respectively. The gentleman had already conquered all 54 mountains. Made us feel jealous! I've since climbed 6 more and plan to bag 4 more this Summer to include Mt Elbert, the tallest Mountain in Colorado. Cheers! |
