Great Travel Moment This photo is my dad's favorite from my most recent vacation. Today he explained,I like this one best, because it reminds me that there is more. He was referring to the Maldives. They are more than just tourist resorts; they are more than just pretty postcard scenes. They are rich with people strong in faith, generous in kindness, and open with simplicity and appreciation. They also are, to me, uncertain of their future: attempting to reconcile their history with the diversity that brings them exposure outside of their familiar context. He pointed to the boats. This one in front. I don't know where they got that blue paint, but you won't see anything like it here, he said. And here, this second boat, what is it? The design is unlike any of ours. Finally, he added,I like that the sea goes off in to the horizon, blending with the sky. In fact, you would not even see the break between the sea and the sky, if it weren't for this island in the background. |

I just love not only the composition of this picture, but the color of the boat in the foreground. It is incredibly beautiful! Great story too!
