"Live the Cover!" Contest: Thailand

Great Travel Moment

This photo was taken at midnight, at the Mariehamn port, situated on an island directly between Sweden and Finland, while travelling on an overnight sailing from Stockholm to Helsinki. The short stop at this port was a perfect photo moment as for the first time I was able to witness daylight at midnight, so typical for these countries in the summer. The island is Finnish territory, but with a Swedish speaking population. The blending of the two cultures on this island offered a moment of reflection on that trip, allowing me to appreciate the beauty of Sweden that I was leaving, and the excitement of what Finland would bring as I disembark the next morning. The peace of the calm waters at the marina, and the warm colours of the sky, round out this great memory.
