During the annual Naadam Festival in Mongolia, the traditional sports of horse racing, wrestling, and archery are celebrated. The wrestling is one of the most crowd-pleasing events. Before the match, the wrestlers invoke the strength and agility of birds of prey through stylized movements that mimic the sweep of their wings and confident strut. At the end of the match, the lower-ranked competitor shows his respect for his component by passing under his arm, regardless of who won.
