Great Travel Moment This picture was taken on the 1000-Buddha cave in the Mekong River, close to Luang Prabang, Laos. I was kayaking on the Mekong River, when our guide took us up to the caves. In his honor, pilgrims have been placing statues of Buddha on this cave for years. One can find hundreds if not thousands of statues there.Though I'm not a practicing buddhist, when I returned home, I enlarged and framed this picture, and placed in my bedroom as an everyday reminder of the virtues and righteousness taught by Buddha. |

I find it amazing, that certain places we travel too, have such an impact on us, they we probably "adopt"some of their culture,to keep the memory of the Country alive within us. I know, for instance, since I traveled to Israel many years ago, although not jewish by birth, it is common for me to say "Shalom!" Knowing the life altering experiences I had there, my friends and family, think it is really a part of me. and it is. Your photograph is beautiful and the story tugged at my heart. Bravo!
