Great Travel Moment This picture is from Mount Monadnock in New Hampshire. It might not be the farthest place to have traveled to, but, at least for me, it was probably the most amazing. The air was crisp and cool on the mountain, even in summer, which is strange and wonderful when you are coming from Florida. It is such a special memory for me because I hiked the mountain with my father, whom I have spent very little time with. It was truly a bonding experience, as cliche as that may sound. The top of Mount Monadnock was burned over a century ago to kill off the wolves, but it killed all of the plants and trees as well. Now, the top of the mountain has the appearance of being above the tree line despite only being 3,165 feet. Being so high and surrounded only by rocks gives the ultimate feeling of freedom. |
