Great Travel Moment It was the end of December, and quite late to be up at Annapurna Base Camp. The trail was going to be closed for the season in a few days, but overnight a massive storm came in and completely socked us in for 3 days. The snow was relentless and the wind howled unabated. When it finally cleared, we were greeted with a brilliant morning of stunning blue skies. Setting out down the trail, we started off in waist-deep snow, panting and shuffling ever so slowly, but within several short hours on the steep descent, the snow gave way to jungles lush with banana trees, and the hot, humid air of the lowlands. These negatives were folded up in a sleeve for 12 years, and I actually didn't realize I had them until June 2007. They were originally printed in Nepal, and mailed to people as postcards. The negatives were sent back to Canada, and were misplaced and somehow forgotten in the confusion of a 1-1/2 year trip. |
