Great Travel Moment After a day of unbelievably beautiful, albeit difficult, hikes; the long train ride through the tunnel to the top of Jungfrau was a much welcomed rest. I barely made it in time to catch the last train up, and was delighted to find only a few remaining tourists. After gawking at the awesome views at ~12,000 feet (see picture) and learning about the research done at the center, the last train was leaving in 5 minutes. As I'm boarding the train, an intimidating uniformed man shouts at me in German. I apologize for my lack of understanding and he motions to follow him. I am surely in trouble for eating on the train, or something, but he leads me to the engineer cab and unfolds the jump seat for me. The picture is amazing and reminds me of front row view down and muddled conversation with an interesting Swiss engineer. |
