Great Travel Moment Kyoto, Japan, is home to the famous Kiyomizu-dera, an amazing wooden temple that extends off the slope of a mountain. Kiyomizu-dera, which translates to Pure Water Temple, is one of the most beautiful and celebrated temples in Japan. It was originally founded in 780 A.D. In 1994, the temple was added to the list of UNESCO world heritage sites. When I took this photo, we had just visited this amazing temple and were walking back toward city. It has just started raining and the colorful umbrellas began opening like blooming lotus blossoms. The school children, all dressed in matching uniforms, from all over Japan seemed to be taking their end of year field trips at the same time. Even though the sights around Japan were very crowded, it was wonderful to see the amazement on the children's faces when they came across something new. |

Another great beginning. I have not gotten to Japan yet. I have an uncle that has lived in Okinawa for over 30 years. Maybe one day I will get to visit him and see sights such as this one.

Good capture! That red umbrella was a good accent to the photo!
