Great Travel Moment This is my favorite photo from the semester I spent studying Spanish in Quéretaro, Mexico with four other students from my college. We spent our first weekend sightseeing in San Miguel de Allende and I snapped this as we climbed a hill and discovered a breathtaking view of the city. We hardly knew each other, but as we took in the scenery of the country that we would call home for the next five months, we became friends, amigos. I love the details in this photo: the cobblestone streets of the colonial city (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), the spires of the churches below and the mountains in the distance. When I look at my friends in the picture, I remember how different we all were at the beginning of that semester and how distinct our experiences in Mexico turned out to be, but also how much we grew together. |
