COMPETITION RULES
NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN THIS CONTEST. A PURCHASE WILL NOT IMPROVE CHANCES OF WINNING.
1. Enter Condé Nast Traveler's "Word Trips" contest by solving the puzzle printed each month in the magazine and submitting your answer(s), along with your name, address, telephone number and all other required information on the online entry form at cntraveler.com/wordtrips. You do not have to purchase the magazine to play. You may enter just one month, or each month, but only one entry per person/e-mail address per month is allowed. By providing your e-mail address, you grant Sponsor the right to send you commercial messages and share your address with others, unless specified otherwise as indicated on the entry form.
2. All entries must be received by 11:59 P.M., Eastern Time, on the last day of the month on that issue's cover. Entries that are lost, late, misdirected, incorrect, garbled, or incompletely received, for any reason, including by reason of hardware, software, browser, or network failure, malfunction, congestion, or incompatibility at Sponsor's servers or elsewhere, will not be eligible. Sponsor, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any person tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Web site. Use of bots or other automated processes to enter is prohibited and may result in disqualification at the sole discretion of Sponsor. Sponsor further reserves the right to cancel, terminate or modify any promotion not capable of completion as planned, including by reason of infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, force majeure or technical failures of any sort. In the event of a dispute, entries will be deemed submitted by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at the time of entry. "Authorized account holder" is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet Access Provider, online service provider, or other organization (e.g., business, educational institute) that is responsible for assigning e-mail address for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address.
3. Only one correct answer will be registered per entrant per month. For the Grand Prize drawing, contestants who have one registered correct answer at the end of the contest period (on or before January 10, 2009) will have one entry in the Grand Prize drawing; contestants with a total of two registered correct answers will have two; and so on. Condé Nast Traveler reserves the right to discontinue the contest at any time after the first month, in which event prizes will be awarded based on entries received to date.
4. One potential Grand Prize winner will be chosen, on or about February 25, 2009, in a random drawing of qualified entries. The potential winner will be notified by e-mail or mail. If the potential winner cannot be contacted within 7 days of attempted notification, an alternate winner may be chosen. All decisions by the judges are final.
5. The Grand Prize winner will receive one double-occupancy hotel room for two nights, two round-trip coach airfare tickets from the major commercial airport nearest to the winner's home in the U.S. or Canada to one of the top 25 North American and Caribbean spa resorts as evaluated in the 2008 Condé Nast Traveler Spa Poll, and ground transportation to and from the hotel (up to a total retail value of $2,500). The choice of the destination is subject to approval by Condé Nast Traveler; disapproval may be based on potential danger, inordinate expense, or other factors. Meals, additional transportation, in-room charges (e.g., minibar, movies), gratuities, spa services, incidentals and all other expenses are not included. Scheduling is subject to availability and blackout dates. Travel must be completed within 10 months of notification of the winner. No substitutions for the Grand Prize will be allowed except by Condé Nast Traveler, in which case a prize of equal or greater value will be awarded.
6. Income and other taxes, if any, are the sole responsibility of the winner. Prize is not transferable.
7. The contest is open to legal residents of the 50 United States, and the District of Columbia and Canada (excluding Quebec) who are 18 years of age or older as of the date of entry, and who have a valid e-mail address as of the start of the sweepstakes, except for employees of the Condé Nast Publications and their immediate families. Sponsor is not responsible for errors in the administration or fulfillment of this sweepstakes, including, without limitation, mechanical, human, printing, distribution or production errors, and may modify or cancel this promotion based upon such error at its sole discretion without liability.
8. The contest is subject to all federal, state, local, and provincial laws and regulations. Void outside the 50 United States and the District of Columbia and Canada, in the Canadian province of Quebec, and where prohibited. In the event the winner is a resident of Canada, the winner may be required to correctly answer a time-limited arithmetical skill-testing question.
9. Odds of winning depend on the number of correct entries received.
10. All entries become the sole property of Condé Nast Traveler and will not be acknowledged or returned.
11. Acceptance of a prize constitutes consent to use the winner's (and the traveling companion's) name and likeness for editorial, advertising, and publicity purposes without further compensation (except where prohibited). The winner may be required to sign an affidavit of eligibility, and the winner and travel companion may be required to sign a liability and publicity release, which must be returned within 14 days of receipt by winner, or an alternate winner may be chosen.
12. By entering the "Word Trips" contest, you agree to be bound by the above rules and regulations.
13. The name of the Grand Prize winner will be posted on this site on March 16, 2009, for a period of 30 days. It may also be obtained by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope, February 25, 2009 and before August 25, 2009, to 2008 Word Trips Winner, Condé Nast Traveler, 4 Times Square, New York, NY 10036. Sponsored by Condé Nast Traveler, 4 Times Square, New York, NY 10036.
