It's a weekend morning. The rest of the world is raking leaves, but you're raking lines across the sky in a SIAI Marchette SF260, feeling five g's and engaging in actual air combat. Smoke pours out from the enemy's aircraft as you score a direct hit. Really. You're shooting lasers, not missiles, but Air Combat USA's day programs are the closest civilians (think corporate types who idly dream of trading a pinstripe suit for a flight suit) are likely to get to being a fighter pilot without enlisting—and the Air Force would probably make you a janitor, anyway. Air Combat's home hangar is in Fullerton, near Disneyland. Courses range from Basic Fighter Maneuvers, with gun-sight tracking and aerial dogfights, to the intense Advanced Fighter Tactics. Those leaves can so wait.
