An elaborate white-marble maharaja's palace, the Taj Lake Palace Hotel dates to 1746 and appears to float on Udaipur's Lake Pichola. You'll feel like a prince, too, at the 83-room hotel, whose white-gloved butlers are descendants of former royal servants. But in 1983's Octopussy, the hotel was somewhat less welcoming: It stood in as the mysterious island home of the fabulously wealthy title character and her spandex-clad, all-female army. Branded with a blue octopus tattoo, some of her girls doubled as acrobats and gymnasts in Octopussy's circus, but all of them guarded the fantastical isle. In the film, Roger Moore sneaks onto the island via a boat disguised as a submerged alligator and—oh, James!—sleeps with Octopussy herself.
