Once a salt-producing isle, today it has more donkeys than residents. The island's sole hotel, Windmills Plantation exudes an Old Caribbean vibe, with four-poster beds and lazy, whirling ceiling fans. And with only eight rooms, that two-and-a-half-mile beach fronting the whimsical blue-red-yellow Bermudian cottages is always blissfully empty. Except for the occasional donkey.
