Turks and Caicos
Pretend you're master of all you survey: Atop an 11-acre hilltop, Bajacu is just 15 minutes from the town of Providenciales, but its on-high location lends a feeling of comfortable separation. Designed by Mexican architect Marco Aldaco, it's a privately owned red and ochre fortress (the name means "rising sun") filled with African and Indonesian antiques, plus five bedrooms, seven baths, and two infinity pools, so you can scan the horizon while you're enjoying a good soak. The commanding position means you'll have ocean-framed views of both sunrise and sunset, but it's not all high and dry: A private stone path leads down to the sea.
