Those woven placemats, napkin rings, bread baskets, and bowls decorating the dinner table? They were created through an outreach program that trains and empowers local women. The four wood-clad rooms, which were fully refurbished in November 2010, have the feel of a floating tree house and offer 180-degree rain-forest views from their glass walls. White 400-thread-count pima cotton sheets (made in Peru) get a punch from nubby oatmeal-colored cushions handwoven locally from sustainable palm-leaf fibers, while animal-shaped souvenirs produced by women from the Puerto Miguel community add a touch of whimsy (the proceeds support local schools). This cruise looks good and does good. That's something that will never go out of style.
