Marina, Oceania Cruises, Worldwide
Weathering trends without becoming a slave to them is one of the hallmarks of good design. The 625-cabin Marina, launched in February 2011, does just that: The decor varies by stateroom category, but each look gives Oceania Cruises' traditional aesthetic a modern spin. In standard staterooms, for example, color schemes of baby blue and moss keep the chocolate wood paneling from feeling too heavy. Owner's Suites get the designer treatment, literally, with top-to-bottom Ralph Lauren furnishings, from the mahogany end tables to the velvet tufted armchairs to the black teak and nickel étagère. We also love the way Oceania lent the brand-new Marina the patina of age in certain spots, such as in the Jacques Pépin restaurant, which features oak flooring salvaged from a barn near the chef's house.
